The Journey

Thomas Durst, a native Texan, opened Tasty Ribs Smokehouse October 2005 after relocating to Baton Rouge. Thomas received degrees in Culinary Arts & Restaurant Management from Diablo Valley College in Pleasant Hill, CA. While in culinary school, Thomas designed his ultimate restaurant concept with focus on serving fresh seafood.  However, his wife convinced him that bringing his style of barbeque to the Greater Baton Rouge area would be well received. Tasty Ribs Smokehouse was birthed specializing in serving barbecue Texas Style. Now that Chef Thomas has returned to his home town, he is excited about the opportunity to relocate Tasty Ribs Smokehouse to the greater Houston metropolitan area.

Tasty Ribs Smokehouse consistently serves the most flavorful, tender and tasty meats. The meat products are marinated in special seasonings and spices and slow cooked with pecan wood. Our customers' favorite meats are baby back and St. Louis ribs, brisket and pulled pork. The homemade barbecue sauce is awesome too!

The traditional Louisiana dessert, bread pudding, is also popular with the customers.  Thomas created his own version of white chocolate bread pudding which is served warm and topped with a white chocolate rum sauce. DELICIOUS!
